Wild animal welfare: birthday fundraiser!

To celebrate my birthday on 28th December (and Christmas, but who cares about that??), I'm supporting the Centre for Wild Animal Welfare (CWAW), a newly formed advocacy organisation (fiscally sponsored by the think tank Rethink Priorities), dedicated to improving the lives of wild animals today and building support for wild animal welfare as a legitimate policy concern.

Co-founded by Richard Parr MBE (former adviser to the UK Prime Minister) and Ben Stevenson (researcher with Animal Ask), they've already started engaging policymakers on wild animal-friendly urban infrastructure (e.g. bird-safe glass). In 2026, they plan to work on additional policy areas like fertility control and pesticide policy (e.g. bans on the worst rodenticides).

They're endorsed by Wild Animal Initiative, the NYU Wild Animal Welfare Program and Animal Ethics; you can read more about the Centre for Wild Animal Welfare here.

Important: please forward your receipt to development@rethinkpriorities.org and team@wildanimalwelfare.org to flag that their donation should be earmarked for CWAW. (And claim Gift Aid if you are eligible.)
