Atlantic Sea Donkeys take on the World's Toughest Row for Give Directly
In December 2024, The Atlantic Sea Donkeys will compete in the annual World’s Toughest Row Atlantic race, completing 4,800km (3000 miles) of strong winds, high seas & plentiful blisters from the volcanic shores of San Sebastian de La Gomera, to paradise in Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua. This is a self-supported trip with no islands, supply boat, or rest!
We’ll be rowing 2 hours on, two hours off for around 40 days, burning in excess of 5000 calories each per day! We're doing all of this to raise money for an incredibly deserving charity: Give Directly.
GiveDirectly is a nonprofit that lets donors send money directly to the world's poorest. We believe people living in poverty deserve the dignity to choose for themselves how best to improve their lives — cash enables that choice. The Atlantic Sea Donkeys (Ben, Dan, Dexter, Jack & Niels) are an international team of kayakers, climbers, skiers and bikers and runners who, after countless individual adventures, have teamed up to take on the world’s toughest row in aid of GiveDirectly.
Between us, we've climbed in the Dolomites, bike-packed Western Australia, white-water kayaked on New Zealand's West Coast, run across Tasmania and cycled from London to Istanbul but we’ve never crossed an ocean…
The World’s Toughest Row combines our love of unique experiences, adventure sports, and type 2 fun. Taking on a challenge like this with close friends is an incredible growth, learning, and lifelong memory opportunity, and we think it's going to be absolutely unreal! We are loving the sense of community behind us on this venture, and we’re very eager to use this as a platform to promote Give Directly and high impact giving in general.
