James Steijger

James is the Chief Operations Officer at Giving What We Can, where he leads finance, compliance, people, grantmaking, and operations across the GWWC entities.

He previously worked as a strategy and impact consultant, supporting social impact organizations across Europe and the United States to tackle the world's most pressing issues. Before that, he served as the Head of Finance and Operations at Safe Passage Project, a non-profit law firm serving refugee children in New York.

With a background in social and political philosophy, he is also currently trying to complete his PhD in organizational science, which focuses on improving organizations that serve vulnerable populations.

In his free time, James can be found hidden away in parks reading books, running or climbing in the mountains, or trying out new moves on the dance floor.
