I have everything I need in life (and much more), so to celebrate my 40th birthday, I'm hoping to raise money for two causes I care deeply about: human health and animal welfare.

Anuja and I will personally match all donations up to a total of £4,000 — so the impact of every donation up to that amount will be DOUBLED.

I've picked two charity/funds, split 50-50:

Malaria Consortium distributes preventative antimalarial medicine to children in regions where malaria is highly seasonal, and has consistently been ranked among the most effective global health charities in the world by independent charity evaluator GiveWell. Around £5 is enough to protect a child from malaria for a season, and GiveWell estimates an average cost of around £3,000 to avert a preventable death.

The Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) Recommended Charity Fund distributes donations across charities that ACE has independently assessed as producing large gains for animals and as having room for more funding. I've personally worked with or supported several of their Recommended Charities and have been consistently impressed by their work and impact.
