Goal
In honor of Helen Keller’s birthday on June 27th, EA@Meta would like to highlight the highly impactful work of the Helen Keller International (HKI) to fight malnutrition and disease with Vitamin A supplementation. Vitamin A deficiency leaves children vulnerable to infections (especially diarrhea, measles, and lower respiratory tract infections) that can lead to death, but is easily treatable with supplements. HKI, co-founded by Helen Keller in 1915, provides Vitamin A supplements to children, predominantly in impoverished countries, to prevent child blindness and infection.
HKI's Vitamin A Supplementation Program is one of the most cost-effective charitable programs, according to Charity Evaluator GiveWell. About $2 in donations to HKI will provide a child with Vitamin A supplements for a year, and about $5000 in donations will save a life.
A club for anyone at Meta interested in doing good well.
Vitamin A Supplementation
