TLYCS works to improve the lives of people living in poverty by changing the way people think about and donate to charity. Their focus is on introducing new donors to the idea of donating to nonprofits in countries with high-incidence and intensity of poverty.
To achieve this, TLYCS conducts rigorous research and evaluation across diverse sectors. This comprehensive approach enables them to align poverty reduction priorities and donor priorities, leveraging donors' existing preferences to introduce them to high-impact giving. Their evaluation framework is grounded in evidence, cost-effectiveness, respect for human dignity, and the potential for widespread impact.
TLYCS has multiple funds, organized by cause area. The all charities fund with 10% to The Life You Can Save combines the high-impact potential of their recommended nonprofits with the impact-multiplier effect of donating to TLYCS. The team at TLYCS estimates that over the last three years each dollar donated to support their work has resulted in US$15 in donations to their recommended organizations.
Matias Nestore
Matias' background is in international development and education and he has worked as a researcher and project manager on initiatives and organizations in the UK, Tunisia, Italy and Argentina. He holds a BA in Education Studies and an MPhil in Education and International Development, both from the University of Cambridge. Whether working on local policy, international development, or social entrepreneurship, he is deeply committed to understanding how we can educate for positive social change. He seeks to find ways in which public policy, social enterprises, and international development can become more equitable and effective by using evidence, drawing on people’s needs, and amplifying their voices.
