Giving Season is one of the best times of the year to reach donors and help them find and support high impact charities. In line with Giving What We Can’s vision to create a world where giving effectively and significantly is a cultural norm, we’re excited about a number of ways for people to engage with giving over the coming weeks.
Effective Giving Day 2022 is being held on the 28th November (29th November in Asia/Pacific).
Hear from experts about how you can find charities that do the most good and get their recommendations on where to donate across a variety of causes like global health, animal welfare, climate change and pandemic preparedness.
Effective Giving Day will also feature guests including bestselling author Rutger Bregman, ethicist Peter Singer, science broadcaster and professional poker player Liv Boeree and more as well as other community members about how effective giving has become an important part of their lives.
We invite everyone to join us for the virtual event at 7pm GMT starting with a YouTube Live and then followed by a social event in Gathertown.
There will also be events held around the world on the day including in Toronto, Sydney and São Paulo. Find out if there’s an event near you.
The event of the year is a major time for donating to charities. In the US, Giving Tuesday (Nov 29th this year), the end of the tax year on December 31st as well as the holiday season all contribute to a peak season for donations.
We’re almost ready to launch our landing page for Giving Season that helps donors learn about Giving What We Can, our community, upcoming events and more.
Until then, you can donate to effective charities on our Donate page.
We are delighted to share with you that Giving What We Can have (all but*) completed our giving recommendations process for this giving season - using our new inclusion criteria and working with our trusted evaluators - and that we have updated our giving recommendations page and donation platform to reflect this.
We are currently recommending 12 top-rated funds and 13 top-rated charities spread across the "cause areas" of improving human wellbeing, improving animal welfare, and creating a better future. We have also added content on why we recommend donors to use funds over donating directly to charities, and have added a transparency page for Giving What We Can.
