Marketing and Communications Contractor

We are seeking a contractor to help with some marketing and communications tasks for Giving What We Can on a regular basis.

This role is aimed at engaging and growing our community through informative, motivating and relevant content. Key tasks include putting together the content for our monthly newsletter and sending it, as well as creating and scheduling social media posts across our active channels.

With any leftover time, there may be opportunities to contribute to other marketing and communications projects at GWWC.

The casual contract would be for 20 hours a month at 25 GBP / 30 USD an hour. This role is fully remote and can be done in any timezone.

Responsibilities:

Newsletter:

  • Pulling together content for the monthly newsletter including asking the team and our partners for inputs, and finding relevant content and news to share
  • Formatting and sending the newsletter via Mailchimp
  • Posting the newsletter to the EA Forum and our blog

Social media:

  • Creating engaging social media content from our existing articles, videos and newsletter content, at minimum 2-3 posts a week across our active channels

Admin:

  • Keeping content organised in folders, with correct descriptions

Required skills:

  • Good understanding of social media platforms and appropriate/engaging content styles
  • Experience with Canva or other graphic design tools for social media
  • Strong writing skills, especially for social media
  • Ability to synthesise/summarise information in an engaging yet accurate way
  • Time management and attention to detail in order to ensure deadlines are not missed and there are no errors in our content

Desirable skills:

  • Experience growing social media channels and reaching new audiences

Application:

Fill out this short application form, that will ask for your resume and samples of any relevant work (ideally a sample of writing to a broad audience, and social media post design and text). Quality of previous work will be considered the most relevant information in this application.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and reviewers will contact promising candidates for a short paid trial of the work, and then offer the ongoing casual contract if the candidate performs well.

[We have paused new applications to this role due to an exceedingly strong response - we encourage people to submit a general application or expression of interest if they are interested in being considered for future roles]
