On #GivingTuesday we launched the Giving What We Can pledge campaign for 2016. A chance for people from around the world to come together and commit to improving the world by donating 10% of their (future) income to charities and organisations that they feel are the most effective.

By the end of 2016 we had an additional 184 members with still more people joining in January as a new year's resolution.

Days like #GivingTuesdays and the holiday season are a brilliant opportunity to help out some of the best causes but we believe that there are things we can do to have an amazing impact on the world all year round. That is why members of the Giving What We Can community commit to donating 10% of their (future) income to the most effective organisations they can find. Not only do we give more but we also achieve more by looking into which interventions achieve the most with our money.

If you'd like to join over 2,000 trying to make a difference and end this year on a positive, compassionate and reasoned note please click here and pledge to join us. We're hoping to reach 2,500 by the end of the campaign and we hope you'll be one of them.

New Year's message

Hi there,

I've just invited you to a Facebook event for the Giving What We Can pledge drive because I thought you might be interested in what they are doing. The Giving What We Can pledge is where people commit to donating 10% of their (future) income to the most effective charities they can find.

I don't know about you but I often think about my goals and resolutions around this time of year. The Giving What We Can pledge is an amazing opportunity to improve the world which seems like one of the best resolutions you can have. That's why I took it. It took a bit of adjusting to at first but I'm so pleased that I did it.

The Facebook event brings together people who are thinking about pledging or want to know more. Lots of people have been posting articles and sharing their own stories and personal resolutions. Have a look at let me know what you think.

I've already taken the pledge because I realised that I have an amazing opportunity to do good both by giving a little more and by finding the charities that can help the most people with my money. It took a bit of adjusting to at first but I'm so pleased that I did it.
