difficult. We generally encourage donors to find out more about
the most effective charities for themselves, but for those short
on time, or bewildered by the possibilities, we offer a short

to help fight the causes or effects of poverty. For now, we have
focused on healthcare (which is a particularly important
area), but we hope to be able to extend our analysis into other
domains, such as education or political change.

We strongly believe that our choices about giving should be based
on firm evidence. We have thus backed up factual claims across
the site with references to the original sources. When we have
a reference for a claim, you will either see a link taking you
straight to the source, or a small number next to the claim like
this.1 Click on it, and it will display the reference.
