Sally is a graduate student in Development Studies (Research) at the London School of Economics. Prior to this, she read Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford, and spent a year working for NGOs in India, Cambodia, Malawi and the UK. She currently manages several volunteers in London, with a primary focus on micronutrients.Email

Research team

Below is a sample of our key past and present research contributors.

Nick BecksteadNick used to direct Giving What We Can's research. He is now a trustee who regularly advises on difficult research issues. He is also a graduate student in the Philosophy Department at Rutgers University. He studied math and philosophy at the University of Minnesota, and has broad interests in normative theory.
Rossa O’Keeffe-O’DonovanRossa is doing a PhD in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, on a Fulbright Scholarship. He graduated with First Class Honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford, where he won a prize for the best undergraduate thesis. He is currently taking time out from Giving What We Can's research to focus on his studies.
Owen Cotton-BarrattOwen is a College Lecturer in pure mathematics at Oxford. He is using his knowledge of probability theory and statistics to investigate appropriate Bayesian updating in our charity evaluations, to deal with issues such as regression to the mean.
Bastian SternBastian is a postgraduate student in philosophy at Oxford University. He recently graduated top in his year with a double starred first from Cambridge, with one of the best undergraduate performances on record.
Michael Peyton JonesMichael has background in computer programming, and recently graduated with First Class Honours from Oxford in Mathematics and Philosophy.
Nic DunkleyNic is a PhD student in machine learning at Oxford University. He graduated with First Class Honours from Cambridge, and received in 96% in his Master’s degree in Applied Statistics at Oxford.
Eliz KilichEliz is currently reading Clinical Medicine at Oxford University with an interest in tropical medicine and infectious disease. During her preclinical studies she was awarded a Casberd Scholarship by St. John’s College. She is currently investigating biomedical research and contagious diseases.
Shaun RavivShaun Raviv is a New York City-based writer. In 2010 and 2011, he lived in Swaziland supported by a Fulbright fellowship, covering the HIV epidemic as a journalist and playwright.
